Old Blogs to give you a perspective…

It all begins with an idea. These are older blogs from my previous website, just to give perspective.

Housework

Well, working in my home studio has it's good and bad sides. The good part. No need to clean up to drive to my studio. I'm saving a lot of gas and rent money. Access 24 hours day and night.

The not so good.... being in the same location as my kitchen, laundry, and so many distractions in my home. Not leaving the house. No artists to talk to. Less space in which to work and store my paintings. Much more effort being made trying to find places to show my work. Looking for a new studio is now a side hobby....

Turning a Page

I am leaving my studio after 11 years in the same building. The building has come under new ownership with great plans for renovation of this historic old relic. As most artists know and, or have experienced, this means raising the rents to pay for the new and improved product! For the time being I'm moving my studio home which is not horrible as I do have a place to work. The big problem is not enough storage. The biggest problem though is not being around other artists on a daily basis. This breaks my heart. Still, I'm looking forward to the future to see what it brings. Trying to stay positive.

Staying Home during the Virus

Guess you never know what new experiences are ahead no matter how old you are! We have been quarantined since March 16th and it's been a major life adjustment in many ways. I thought oh well, I can just stay in my home studio and paint with no interruptions. Guess what? Suddenly I know I can't go out, I want to. It's hard to focus with a pandemic going on. Who knew? Thinking about my family and friends and thousands of good people who I pray will stay healthy throughout this. Still I'm pretty lucky to have a space and supplies to keep painting so I am. Artists shows & studios are all closed right now so much of their income is gone. Buy some original art online if you are able. Thanks!

Challenge

Being a visual artist is joy and privilege for me even though this calling is not without it’s challenges. I express myself best though my images using color and line. As a painter of nature and abstraction, I combine the two approaches into a single idea leading to a finished work. I enjoy the feel of the paint and the challenge of my quest and the feeling of satisfaction when I achieve my goal. Another quest is to bring a smile or pleasant thought to those who see my paintings. My process is to start with large splashes of color and this leads me on to find out where the painting wants to go. The anal retentive side of my brain kicks in and tries to make order of this chaos. The result is usually many lines or fine details. Here is the big pause and the point which will make or break this creation. Look at my work and see my conclusions to this problem. When I’m painting there is no time or stress...just painting.

The World as Seen by Me

Hello world!

This is sort of my coming out party as in this is my 1st website creation. I have been painting most of my long, happy life but neglected to take time for making this online presentation of my work. Please enjoy and make comments both good and bad so I can improve as time goes on. Really, I'd rather be painting but one has to make room for the new ones and share my joy with the all of you. Take a look at my work and if one speaks to you let me know and it can be yours! Best to you, Vicky
